Scott's L.A.™ Article:
Michael Jackson Locations of Grave, Rehearsals, Concerts and more

Since Michael Jackson’s death there has been intense fan interest in seeing significant places in his life and career. We understand that being in these places gives you a sense of “connection” you just don’t get any other way. Our LOS ANGELES and HOLLYWOOD tours guide you directly to significant places in the last days of his life that have been shown extensively on TV.

Caution

NOTE:  We do not provide directions to the Jackson home. It’s in the middle of a residential neighborhood and neighbors have been totally overwhelmed by fans and TV crews. They want their privacy back as well as access to their own homes. Local police are patrolling the street and may prevent you from driving by or stopping.

Location #1 - Michael's Major TV Venues:
This location contains 4 major venues shown on TV. These are all in a 2-block area and our LOS ANGELES tour guides you directly here.

STAPLES CENTER.  This is where Michael rehearsed his “comeback” concert the day before he died.  This is also the where his memorial service was held and televised to the world.

L.A. Live.  This is the large entertainment complex directly across the street from Staples Center. It contains restaurants, clubs, the ESPN Sports Center, the Nokia Theater, and the Grammy Museum.  If you watched TV coverage after Michael’s death, this is what you saw in the background as reporters broadcast their reports to TV stations all over the world.

NOKIA THEATER.  This is where the “overflow” crowd of ticket-holders watched Michael’s memorial service on large-screen TV and were greeted my Michael’s sisters, Janet, La Toya, and Rebbie.

GRAMMY MUSEUM.  This is on the northeast corner of the L.A. Live complex and is an outstanding 4-floor museum of the music industry in its own right.  You will be just inches away from displays of Michael’s costumes and his world-famous “glove.”  If you go there to see Michael’s memorabilia, take time to explore the rest of this remarkable place.

Location #2 - Michael's Star on the Walk of Fame:
Michael’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, located in front of the world-famous GRAUMAN’S CHINESE THEATER. This is probably the location most-visited by Michael Jackson fans because it’s so easy to find. Our HOLLYWOOD tour guides you directly here.

LOCATION #3 - Michael's Private Funeral Site at
Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Cemetary:

This is where Michael was taken to be prepared for burial. The Hall of Liberty located inside the cemetery was where the Jackson family and friends held Michael’s private funeral.

Caution

NOTE:  This is a cemetery, not a tourist attraction.  You are welcome to visit this place, but do so with respect.  Funerals are held here all the time and families are paying respect to their loved ones.  Drive slowly and be as quiet as possible.

Both our Hollywood and Los Angeles tours get you near the cemetery, but not directly there, so refer to the map below. It is located on FOREST LAWN DRIVE.  If you are taking our HOLLYWOOD AUDIO TOUR, turn onto Forest Lawn Drive from BARHAM BOULEVARD.  Taking our LOS ANGELES AUDIO TOUR, turn onto Forest Lawn Drive from the 134 FREEWAY.  Addresses are not easy to see on this street, but if you are using a cell phone that displays GPS, the coordinates are 34.14545 (N), –118.33203 (W).

LOCATION #4 Los Angeles County Coroner:
This is where Michael was taken so the Medical Examiners could determine the cause of his death.  You may recognize the distinctive 100 year-old Coroner’s Gift Store building because TV reporters stood in front of it as the world waited to know what happened.  Our LOS ANGELES AUDIO TOUR guides you directly here.
NOTE: It may sound strange that the Coroner has a gift store, but it is world famous and it provides a valuable public service to Los Angeles.  The store sells T-shirts, coffee mugs, and 70 other items with the Coroner’s department logo that are favorites of fans of CSI and other forensic-science TV shows.  These are fun gifts but more important, proceeds from these sales pay for the court-ordered program to prevent teen drunk-driving.  You can see their items at the link below.  The store is called Skeletons In The Closet.  When the door opens, click on “List All Products” and “View as images.”
